Some of you may not know but skincare is important to me. I may like to wear makeup but I always feel that you need to start with a great base to have the best results. That’s why I was so happy when Aveeno asked if I would partner with them for their Ultra-Calming Collection that is perfect for anyone with sensitive skin. They let me meet with a local dermatologist named Dr. Chipps to ask all the questions I wanted. And you bet I did just that! So, I am sharing with you my experience just in case you might be suffering with the same issues.

First off, my skincare routine is long because I like to use oils, creams, masks… anything that will help with my Rosacea but I wanted to ask the Dermatologist what are specific ingredients I should be staying away from or be using.  If you don’t know, Rosacea is an inflammatory condition that happens because you  have too many inflammatory cells in the skin and that’s what makes the redness appear. She told me I should avoid fragrance and look for products that are fragrance-free like the Aveeno Nourishing Night cream. It’s also oil-free so it’s gentle enough to use on my skin. The ingredients I should be using is anything with oats and feverfew. She let me know that the Aveeno Ultra-Calming Collection contains just these ingredients that helps reduce the appearance of redness and calm my dry skin which Is AMAZING!

Another question I had was how often should I be washing my face? Because I am not sure if it’s making the dryness worse. She did say that I should use gentle cleansers like the Ultra-Calming Hydrating Gel cleanser that’s not going to strip my skin. Also, when cleansing that I need to use look warm water which just this information is life changing because I always wash my face with hot water because I don’t want to be cold . Plus, you should always wash morning and night but use a moisturizer right after.  Lastly, she let me know that when washing my face I shouldn’t do a lot of rubbing and to not be abrasive on my face. It’s important to be consistent with your regimen.

Sun protection and hydration are the most important things in any skincare routine.  So, I wanted to know what sunscreen best works for me and how much moisturizer should I use if I am suffering from really dry skin?  Dr. Chipps let me know that I should use a physical sunscreen instead of a chemical one and I had no idea what the difference was so I asked. She let me know that a physical blocker is SPF 30 like the Ultra-Calming Daily Moisturizer. This formula has zinc and titanium. These are minerals that sit on the skin and reflect the sun away. For my moisturizer, she said  that I should be using two different one’s for both morning and night. At night I should be using a heavier moisturizer like the Nourishing Cream but if I am suffering from really dry skin then I could use this night cream in the morning and then follow up with SPF and makeup.

Honestly guys this was a great experience because I was able to learn so much about how to help with my Rosacea and dry skin. But most importantly what I learned is that the Aveeno Ultra-Calming Collection is perfect for my skin and I don’t have to spend so much money to have all the products I need for my regimen. If you want to check out this collection then head over to Walgreens to grab all your necessities.
