snacks on the go

When my boys get home from school they’re hungry, hungry hippos. They head straight for the kitchen and snack on anything they can get their hands on. Because I work full-time I try and prep as much as I can in advance so I know exactly what they’re eating when I’m not around. I do this with our lunchtime box, our breakfasts and most recently, their after school snacks. Whether you’re a working mom or a stay at home, this little trick can be a total time saver!

vegetable snacks for kidsI used these plastic mason jars because A: even my minions can’t break plastic and B: they have holes in the top which allows the veggies to breath.

perfect after school snacksI fill our after school snacks with every kind of veggie, cheese, or cracker I can find!

Then I add ranch dressing, cream cheese, salsa, peanut butter, almond butter or hummus to a small disposable dressing container and add that last.

You can prep your after school snacks on Sunday and then they’re ready throughout the week. This is also a great plan for those of you who want to encourage yourself to have healthy snacks, no matter what age you are!healthy snacks
