China Plate Centerpiece

Recently I wrote post on how to style your grandma’s tablecloth. I figured since I had one of those (and wasn’t totally sure what to do with it) that you might be too. Turns out, I was right! That post did really well and several of you sent me emails thanking me for the idea…. Read more »

12 Chic Moments of 2012

I am fairly new to the My Chic Life family, which means I read through the posts of 2012 just like anyone else. From Rachel’s “Momfessions,” recipes and decor ideas, Mandy’s one-of-a-kind “DIY nots?” and Melody’s delicious treats, I have to say that these ladies rocked it this past year! Gratitude Journals

Thanksgiving is less than a week away? Why do the holidays always hit me like a moving bus?! Although it’s come a little too fast for me, I simply love Thanksgiving traditions. Beyond the food and family, I look forward to taking that moment to figure out what I’m most thankful for. This year, I… Read more »

Uncle Eddie is on turkey duty, Mom prepares the yams, Aunt Karen makes the pumpkin cake, Grandma whips up her famous jello mold, and so-on. This year I thought it would be a nice touch if we actually labeled our… Read more »

As I type this, I’m flying God-knows-how-many miles above the earth, headed for Dallas Texas, and I’m struck at how much has changed in my life since the last time I came to Dallas 4 years ago. For one thing, they didn’t have wireless internet on airplanes back then and I was cramped in a… Read more »

Detroit Sprinkles

Screen printed in a garage in LA, Detroit Sprinkles are one-of-a-kind designs for the Angeleno who wants a cool t-shirt or hoodie that not everyone else cruising down Melrose owns. Each of these shirts is hand printed on the softest cotton in bright colors that say, “This is my awesome shirt and no one except… Read more »

Bite Me!

Alright, I’m about to get real! Sometimes this job sucks… like when the groom’s little brother gets so drunk he pukes all over the candy bar (cause that type of thing doesn’t clean itself up, if you know what I mean). And then sometimes this job is heavenly and full of perks I couldn’t even… Read more »

About The Chic

Back in 2004 when I was looking to name my events company, I stumbled across the word 'Chic' in an old dictionary. The definition was: “a fashionable lifestyle, ideology, or pursuit”. I fell in love with the word and the idea that chic is the pursuit of something better, prettier, or cooler than you are today. Chic isn’t a state of being or even a destination, chic is the journey you take on the way to something greater. ~Rachel

Question: From RJ in Los Angeles Hi Rachel! We had a gathering last night where quite a few kids (mostly toddlers) showed up with their parents. My husband and I are childless, but love kids and aren’t afraid of messes/things breaking, etc. But, one of the mothers made a comment about “another friend of hers… Read more »
