Button Monogram Wall Art

I love a craft that A: occupies my children B: uses up leftover supplies and C: occupies my children… did I mention that this occupies children? It does, and it only takes a few materials to create it so gather up your buttons, pom poms, stickers, or really anything that you can attach to… Read more »

DIY Button Thumbtacks

I love my bulletin board, but I absolutely hated the weird neon thumbtacks I was using to pin everything up on it… it was time for a thumbtack makeover! A few buttons (I already had a hodgepodge collection) a little glue gun (every crafter has one of those) a few minutes later and we were… Read more »

Year’s End Card Storage

Yesterday I was sifting through the Chic office drawers and found Rachel’s adorable card organization system. She simply ties together the cards she’s been given for birthdays, anniversaries, etc. and labels them with the year she received them. This is stupid genius!

12 Chic Moments of 2012

I am fairly new to the My Chic Life family, which means I read through the posts of 2012 just like anyone else. Cozy Sweater Wine Wrap

I’m the queen of procrastination, especially during the holiday season! So in order to prevent the last minute speeding to the store, half-hazardly throwing something together, and arriving to the holiday party slightly out of breath, I’ve decided to prepare BEFORE the day of the holiday party. I’ve seen adorable recycled sweater wrapped wine bottles… Read more »

Chalk It Up

I can’t believe it’s Christmas time again!  Seems like I was just working on these tags and this wreath, but here I am, another year wiser, browsing the aggressively festive holiday-themed shelves of the craft store once more.  Fortunately, I have a project for you that requires nothing from the crowded Christmas section!  A few… Read more »

Gratitude Journals

Thanksgiving is less than a week away? Why do the holidays always hit me like a moving bus?! Although it’s come a little too fast for me, I simply love Thanksgiving traditions. Beyond the food and family, I look forward to taking that moment to figure out what I’m most thankful for. This year, I… Read more »

Leafy Table Labels

Every Thanksgiving, my family members all contribute their signature dish to our annual buffet-style feast. Uncle Eddie is on turkey duty, Mom prepares the yams, Aunt Karen makes the pumpkin cake, Grandma whips up her famous jello mold, and so-on. This year I thought it would be a nice touch if we actually labeled our… Read more »

About The Chic

Back in 2004 when I was looking to name my events company, I stumbled across the word 'Chic' in an old dictionary. The definition was: “a fashionable lifestyle, ideology, or pursuit”. I fell in love with the word and the idea that chic is the pursuit of something better, prettier, or cooler than you are today. Chic isn’t a state of being or even a destination, chic is the journey you take on the way to something greater. ~Rachel

Question: Star, from Macon, GA Asks: What type of food will I need if I’m hosting a sip and shop? Rachel’s Answer: Hi Star, there’s really no wrong answer here. When I’ve hosted shopping events in the past I tend to focus on light and fun appetizers like Cheddar Apple Crostini or these individual Quinoa Salads.  Brunch is always a nice… Read more »
