To diy or buy?  That really is the question for many savvy shopping decor enthusiasts these days.  Sometimes it’s hard to decide which is best.  On the one hand diy’ing something can save you some serious moola. While on the other hand, time is most definitely money, and sometimes a diy project can take up… Read more »

Got Fabric Scraps?

Whenever I’m in a fabric store I feel like a kid in a candy store.  I really love the hunt for the perfect fabric for a project, and after the project is done I just can’t bring myself to trash the scraps.  Instead I throw them all in a bin until inspiration strikes.  Do you have bins… Read more »

Upcycled Hardware Vases

I’m hooked on Perrier sparkling water. For me, it has little to do with the water itself, and much to do with this gorgeous green glass bottles it comes in. I have trouble throwing the bottles away because I always think “I should make something out of these.” So this past weekend I finally fulfilled… Read more »

Fridge Facelift

Ever since I moved into my apartment last summer, I have had a resentment towards the dingy, old and unappealing piece of machinery that acts as our refrigerator. It works just fine and is not much different than most rental fridges, but I felt it was begging for a little makeover. So, after much brainstorming,… Read more »

Rose Colored Glasses

What on earth are those you may ask? They’re fabulously beaded glasses, what else?! I got these red sunglasses in a goodie bag at an event of some sort, and never really used them. With the exception of when I popped out the lenses and wore them as an accessory to a “mad-scientist” costume last… Read more »

Year’s End Card Storage

Yesterday I was sifting through the Chic office drawers and found Rachel’s adorable card organization system. She simply ties together the cards she’s been given for birthdays, anniversaries, etc. and labels them with the year she received them. This is stupid genius!

Fancy Chalkboard

About two years ago I decided I wanted to make my own “fancy” chalkboard. Meaning, I kept seeing cool chalkboards in gilded frames and I wanted one too. That weekend I went to a flea market and bought a cool frame… and two years later, I turned that frame into a chalkboard. My projects might… Read more »

Merry Terrariums

One of the problems with crafting Christmas gifts is the amount of time it takes to lovingly render something for friends and family with your own two hands.  We all have to-do lists a mile long, so unless you are one of those rare exotic types who has had your shopping done since early fall… Read more »

About The Chic

Back in 2004 when I was looking to name my events company, I stumbled across the word 'Chic' in an old dictionary. The definition was: “a fashionable lifestyle, ideology, or pursuit”. I fell in love with the word and the idea that chic is the pursuit of something better, prettier, or cooler than you are today. Chic isn’t a state of being or even a destination, chic is the journey you take on the way to something greater. ~Rachel

Rachel's Latest Answer

Question: Star, from Macon, GA Asks: What type of food will I need if I’m hosting a sip and shop? Rachel’s Answer: Hi Star, there’s really no wrong answer here. When I’ve hosted shopping events in the past I tend to focus on light and fun appetizers like Cheddar Apple Crostini or these individual Quinoa Salads.  Brunch is always a nice… Read more »
