Year’s End Card Storage

Yesterday I was sifting through the Chic office drawers and found Rachel’s adorable card organization system. She simply ties together the cards she’s been given for birthdays, anniversaries, etc. and labels them with the year she received them. This is stupid genius!

I am fairly new to the My Chic Life family, which means I read through the posts of 2012 just like anyone else. From Rachel’s “Momfessions,” recipes and decor ideas, Mandy’s one-of-a-kind “DIY nots?” and Melody’s delicious treats, I have to say that these ladies rocked it this past year! Cozy Sweater Wine Wrap

I’m the queen of procrastination, especially during the holiday season! So in order to prevent the last minute speeding to the store, half-hazardly throwing something together, and arriving to the holiday party slightly out of breath, I’ve decided to prepare BEFORE the day of the holiday party. I’ve seen adorable recycled sweater wrapped wine bottles… Read more »

Leafy Table Labels

Every Thanksgiving, my family members all contribute their signature dish to our annual buffet-style feast. Uncle Eddie is on turkey duty, Mom prepares the yams, Aunt Karen makes the pumpkin cake, Grandma whips up her famous jello mold, and so-on. This year I thought it would be a nice touch if we actually labeled our… Read more »

2010

Got New Year’s Plans? At the gym yesterday, I swear, I heard this question about 15 times. New Year’s is a tough one here in LA. House parties run the risk of being shut down by the po and Hollywood is just a mess. But come on, no one wants to be singing Auld Land Syne… Read more »

About The Chic

Back in 2004 when I was looking to name my events company, I stumbled across the word 'Chic' in an old dictionary. The definition was: “a fashionable lifestyle, ideology, or pursuit”. I fell in love with the word and the idea that chic is the pursuit of something better, prettier, or cooler than you are today. Chic isn’t a state of being or even a destination, chic is the journey you take on the way to something greater. ~Rachel

Question: Star, from Macon, GA Asks: What type of food will I need if I’m hosting a sip and shop? Rachel’s Answer: Hi Star, there’s really no wrong answer here. When I’ve hosted shopping events in the past I tend to focus on light and fun appetizers like Cheddar Apple Crostini or these individual Quinoa Salads.  Brunch is always a nice… Read more »
