1. Vary sizes. Think of your sofa or bed as a blank canvas. Each differently sized pillow adds a level of depth and dimension. Start with the largest sizes at the back and then build forward, showcasing smaller pillows as you move forward. Not only does this create a full look, but lots of excitement for the eye!

2. Think in pairs. Pillow pairs have the ability to balance out a bed or sofa. When selecting pillows, aim for two of each. Pairs create symmetry and add versatility when layered amongst other pairs.

Colors in the same family

 3. Pick colors in the same family. When incorporating various colored pillows to your sofa or bed, it’s best to stay within the same color family. Warm colors, like red, orange and yellow, look best with other warms. Cool colors, like green, blue and purple, look best with other cools. And when mixing neutrals, evaluate the undertones (warm or cool) before pairing with other neutrals or colors.

Complementary patterns

4. Go for complementary patterns. Can’t decide between geometric patterns or classic striped pillows for your sofa or bed? If the patterns complement each other, add both! Mixing patterned pillows gives you the chance to add personality and a pop of the unexpected to your space.

5. Add a pop of color to neutrals. Make a vibrant first (and lasting) impression by incorporating vibrantly hued pillows to your sofa or bed. Start by identifying your favorite colors, then explore which will work best in room’s color palette. They’ll draw attention to your bold décor choice while injecting a personal touch!

More is more

6. When in doubt, more is more. Too many pillow choices for your soft or bed? As long as they work together, pile them on! A fuller sofa looks inviting and is always more comfortable.
