Cozy Night

Whether you’re escaping the snow or avoiding the crowds, this time of year is perfect for ditching the dinner reservations or swanky cocktail lounge plans for a beautiful night at home. When I think of unwinding on the weekends, my mind goes straight to sweatpants and movie marathons with me, myself and I… but I’m dreaming up the same relaxation, mixed with good friends, and a little bit of fancy to make the ultimate “Cozy Night In.”

Sure, hosting a couple close friends can be as simple as pouring some wine and delving into a good conversation, but why not add a few special touches to make the night feel extra special? Here are 5 steps for hosting a cozy night in.

1. The Comfy Factor – The fastest way to feel comfy and at home, is changing out of those boots and into fluffy slippers. Have some extras on hand to offer your guests as they come in the door. If it’s extra cold or you’re going for a PJ party feel, offer them a robe to match their fluffy footwear.

2. Setting the Mood – Like any gathering, lighting is key! Since this gathering is casual and intimate, go with a small grouping of tea lights or strike up the fireplace. If you love lighting ideas as much as we do, here are 15 Ways to Light Your Party.

3. The Food – If you’re going beyond finger foods and need a meal, Slow Cooker Chicken and Dumplings is an absolute favorite. Hearty, flavorful and so easy to pull together… this is a must-have for a cozy night in.

4. The Activity – While a movie or board game is always a classic activity, a more interactive and creative option is doing a craft together. Try these jewelry wine charms or Instagram frames for your friends to take home with them at the end of the night.

5. A Sweet Ending – For dessert, stir up a rich creamy hot chocolate with a mini churro. It’ll be both a sweet and soothing ending to the evening!
