Coffee Margarita

Coffee Cocktail

Today on The Steve Harvey Show, Steve and I sampled every kind of coffee recipe imaginable… there was a coffee steak rub, coffee cupcakes and even the most expensive coffee in the world! We also tried my recipe for a Coffee Margarita, and if you happened to catch the segment you know that Steve HATED this cocktail!!

As with most of my TV segments I send my recipes to the producers and when I get on site some wonderful food stylist has made them for me. In this instance the stylist did a great job but they lined the cocktail with only cocoa powder instead of cocoa powder, cinnamon, and sugar. This meant that when Steve and I took a drink of our cocktails all we tasted was the bitter cocoa… this poor margarita never even had the chance to impress Steve like it should have.

So… I’m giving you the recipe here, so you can try it yourself and see for yourself just how tasty this unique coffee cocktail can be. Let me know what you think!!

Recipe

1 Shot of Patron Espresso Flavored Tequila – more if it’s been a long day!

4 oz of Brewed Coffee

Citrus Flavored Simple Syrup – To Taste

Coco Powder, Cinnamon, Sugar – To Rim the Glass

Orange Peel and Cinnamon Stick to Garnish

How To – First use a little citrus wedge and run it around the rim of your glass. Next dip the rim into a mixture of coco powder, cinnamon and sugar until it’s lined (think of margarita salt). Next fill the glass with ice. In a cocktail shaker add tequila, coffee, simple syrup and ice. Shake well and give it a taste… you’ll probably need a little more simple syrup to sweeten it up.

Once you’ve got a flavor you like strain the cocktail into the prepared cup. Garnish with cinnamon stick and a twist of orange peel. Enjoy!!
