Birthday Bonanza Recap

For those of you who didn’t hear, last week we celebrated a very special lady’s 30th birthday. Rachel turned 30! Woot Woot!! And boy was it fun! As promised, here is a little recap of last week’s festivities.

So how do you celebrate such an exciting milestone birthday? Drink! We started off the week right by making delicious cake batter flavored martinis in last week’s edition of Hurried Hostess.

Rachel also spilled on how it feels to leave her 20s and all that should come with turning the big 3-0 in the Huffington Post.

Team Hollis

The night of Rachel’s birthday, Dave and Rachel hosted a beautiful dinner at one of their favorite restaurants: Osteria Mozza in Hollywood. The ambiance, food and company was the perfect setting for such a special birthday. I hope Rachel can agree!

Setting the mood

To give the dining room that special touch, Rachel’s oldest son Jackson created the centerpiece. With slivers of paper and 12 words/phrases to describe Mom, Jackson’s masterpiece ran down the length of the table with candles and lit up the room! For place-cards, green apples were placed with the guests’ names tacked into them. It was simple, yet personal.


Oh the food… Here at My Chic Life, we ALWAYS have to talk about the food, so let’s get to it! The menu was  absolutely delicious and consisted of:

Appetizers – Orecchiette and Ricotta & Egg Raviolo
Entrees – Grilled Beef Tagliata and Grilled Whole Orate
Dessert – Housemade Gelato & Sorbetto or Butterscotch Budino.

Watching in Awe

During dessert, Rachel’s husband Dave surprised her with a hilarious and heart-felt video. Friends and family wished Rachel a Happy Birthday in the most creative ways. There is a million ways to say Happy Birthday, and they’re all captured in that one video!

Party People

When it’s all said and done, birthdays are nothing without the ones you love. I know Rachel was excited to see some of her favorite people all in one room.
