Crafty Wall

I’ve been obsessed with the idea of using a peg board to organize my ribbons, wrapping paper and other crafty supplies ever since I saw pictures like the one above. So, being the over achiever that I am, I decided to make one myself. The result makes me so happy I’m calling random strangers into my house to check it out! Here’s how I made it!

First of all, I took a trip to my local Home Depot where they sell this peg board in various sizes. The 4×4 piece fit onto my wall without me having to cut it so it was the winner. Allegedly they sell this in white, but I couldn’t find any so I had to paint it.

I did a layer of primer all over the board which helps the actual paint adhere better.

One coat of primer and two coats of paint later, it’s ready to hang. I used mollys and screws to make sure it wouldn’t fall off the wall because even though the pegboard isn’t heavy once you start to add things it gets “weighty”.

This is the MADNESS that was my ribbon collection.

After I organized it by color

Now we attached the board to the wall leaving about an inch of the screw unscrewed. The space between the wall and the board allowed me to insert the pegs. I love that everything can be moved around and added to over time… there’s so much room!

For the ribbon and wrapping paper holder I got wooden dowels and they’re held in place by inserting them through a metal piece that was originally supposed to hold screw drivers. Just look through the  peg board section of your hardware store they have all sorts of fun things!

I found these baskets in the “peg board” section and used them to hold mason jars filled with gift tags, stickers, etc.

The bottom line is you may have all of this fun stuff layeing around but you’re not very likely to use it if you don’t have it within site. I’m SO ready to wrap gifts now I’m practically Candy Spelling and the whole project cost about $30.
