Pumpkin Cream Cheese Wontons

Fried to Perfection

A week ago I was at the grocery store and I saw Pumpkin Cream Cheese on special. I’ve never used pumpkin cream cheese (and in fact didn’t even know it existed until that moment) but it sounded delicious and I bought some with the intention of creating something with it. So I put it to a vote on our FaceBook Page and while everyone had good ideas, one reader had a great idea… why not put it inside wontons and powder it with cinnamon and sugar for a holiday dessert?

A Spoonful of Sugar

As shocking as it seems to me now, I’d never worked with wonton skins but it took all of 37 seconds to figure them out. I simply put a spoonful of the pumpkin cream cheese inside a wonton skin. Then I brushed the edges with water and closed up the little envelope of goodness. I cooked in a pan filled with hot oil (beware, they cook up in about 5 seconds per side) then I removed from the oil and sprinkled with cinnamon and sugar. I served them up our block party to high praise.

About The Chic

Back in 2004 when I was looking to name my events company, I stumbled across the word 'Chic' in an old dictionary. The definition was: β€œa fashionable lifestyle, ideology, or pursuit”. I fell in love with the word and the idea that chic is the pursuit of something better, prettier, or cooler than you are today. Chic isn’t a state of being or even a destination, chic is the journey you take on the way to something greater. ~Rachel
